If you are a writer or artist above 14 years of age considering to submit your work to The Ideate Review, welcome!
Please peruse the following guidelines carefully when submitting. "Author Rights” are located under [Submit].
Short stories: Up to 2 pieces (2,000 words max. per piece)
Poetry: Up to 5 poems (no word limit)
Art: Up to 7 pieces (any form of visual art)
We allow simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately at email@example.com if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.
SUBMIT LITERARY WORKS
Format your work into a single Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx).
*If you are submitting multiple pieces, each piece must begin on a new page.
Short stories: 12 pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced. Please include the word count at the top.
Poems: 12 pt. Times New Roman, single-spaced.
Title the file: FirstName LastName - Title.docx (e.g. The Ideate - Blue.docx). Attach the file to the email.
*Note: This is simply to aid us in the final publishing step; we undergo a blind adjudication process.
The email’s subject line must read: [CATEGORY] - FirstName LastName - Title (e.g. [POETRY] The Ideate - Blue).
*Please do not specify the genre of a prose piece; simply label it [PROSE] regardless of its specific genre.
**If you are submitting works to multiple categories, send them as separate emails according to their categories.
In the body of the email, please include:
A third-person bio that you would like to see included in our issue if published.
A brief paragraph explaining how your piece connects to our theme, identity.
How you have heard about our magazine (NewPages/Duotrope/EveryWriter listings, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Send the email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Our response period may range from a week to three months. If you haven’t heard from us in three months, please send us a kind follow-up email.
Format your artwork(s) into .jpg format
Title the file(s): FirstName LastName - Title.jpg (e.g. The Ideate - Blue.jpg). Attach the file to the email.
*Please ensure that your submission is of the highest quality as possible.
The email’s subject line must read: [ART] - FirstName LastName - Title (e.g. [ART] The Ideate - Tree).
Follow steps 5-6 as detailed above for submitting literary works.
